Best venues in Prague for online and hybrid conferences

Six Prague venues, judged from the crew's side — what helps a live stream in each, and what is harder work.

The main hall of the Prague Congress Centre set up for a conference

You are choosing a room for a conference you also want to broadcast. This rundown is written from the crew’s side rather than the brochure’s: what helps a live stream in six Prague venues, and what is harder work in each. We have broadcast or filmed in five of them.

1. Cubex Centrum Praha

Pankrác, Prague 4

Who it suits. One of the most modern conference centres in Prague. Fast connectivity, professional AV and a room that can be rebuilt around the format. For an event that has to look expensive, it is the safest choice on this list.

The catch. Prices are at the higher end and each hall has a ceiling. On a genuinely large event you run out of capacity before you run out of technology.

2. O2 Universum

Libeň, Prague 9

Who it suits. Events for thousands, in the room or online. The infrastructure for a live broadcast is already there and the space connects to the O2 Arena. We have broadcast press conferences for CLASH MMA from here.

The catch. For a smaller event it is needlessly large and expensive, and the size shows up in the logistics: load-in, distances and coordination all take longer than you expect.

3. Impact Hub Prague

Smíchov, Prague 5

Who it suits. Smaller, creative formats. Parquet, tall windows and daylight — a room that films well because it does not look like a boardroom.

The catch. Capacity is limited, and the daylight cuts both ways: it changes through the day, so a longer programme needs lighting of our own.

4. Hotel Clarion Congress

Vysočany, Prague 9

Who it suits. Hybrid events where you want the room, the beds and the catering on one contract. The main hall splits with movable partitions, so it adapts to the programme.

The catch. Service packages add up faster than they first appear, and the partitions do not soundproof — two parallel programmes side by side can hear each other.

5. City Conference Centre

Pankrác, Prague 4

Who it suits. Mid-sized conferences with no appetite for spectacle. A solid room, two screens, a sensible price.

The catch. The in-house AV is more basic than at the larger centres. That does not affect the broadcast — we bring our own — but expect less to be supplied.

6. Prague Congress Centre

Vyšehrad, Prague 4

Who it suits. Large international congresses. Capacity in the thousands and full technical facilities, including booths for simultaneous interpreting.

The catch. For a smaller event it is oversized, and the price follows. The scale of the building means longer walks and more people to coordinate with.

What to ask, whichever you pick

Two things are hard to fix once you are on site:

  • What the connection in the room actually is. Not “there is Wi-Fi”, but how much upload it really has and whether guests share it. We bring our own connectivity, but at a hybrid event the speakers and the audience need theirs too.
  • Whether the room has its own sound engineer. If it does, we take a feed straight from the mix and audio is solved. If not, we bring our own microphones — and we need to know in advance.

The rest — cameras, vision mixing, lighting, graphics — arrives with us. If you are choosing and not sure, get in touch.
