Live streaming the Czech Skateboarding Championship
An FPV drone, instant replay and a camera operator who spent three hours running around the skatepark. Over 1,900 people watched the stream live.
The Czech Skateboarding Championship at the Mystic skatepark on Štvanice, an island on the Vltava in Prague.
What makes it hard. A skatepark isn’t a stadium. Several obstacles are in use at once, a skater gets one attempt at a trick, and the best run often comes from someone nobody happens to be watching. A static camera catches a fraction of it.
What we build for it. A camera operator with a handheld camera who spent three hours straight running between competitors all over the park, an FPV drone over the obstacles, and instant replay, so viewers see a landed trick again straight away, in slow motion. The mixing position was a makeshift one, right there in the park.
How it went. Over 1,900 people watched the stream live.
